And the 109th Grey Cup Half Time Performer is…
With the 109th Grey Cup set to take place in just over two weeks here in Regina we have all been awaiting the announcement of who the half time performer will be. There’s been a lot of speculation. Some of them plausible options. Some not so much…
And the winner is…
And last night, November 4th, the CFL finally announced who will be performing:
So, there’s a good chance you, like me, had to google one or more of these names. Country music is part of my regular rotation so I was familiar with Jordan Davis. Buy Dirt is on my country playlist. I didn’t instantly recognize who Tyler Hubbard was but when I looked him up I was vaguely familiar with some of his work. Josh Ross in entirely unknown to me but I gave a listen to some of his songs and they were pleasant.
I don’t know that this was the lineup we were expecting. Although I’m not sure what we were expecting. These maybe aren’t well known names to a lot of us but for more die hard country fans they just might be. Does it matter? I’d argue that it doesn’t. At all. Fans don’t spend hundreds of dollars to sit in an outdoor stadium in November, in Saskatchewan for the half time show. The performance doesn’t sell tickets. Sure, a big name might get viewers at home to tune in for 15 minutes, and I guess that’s cool. Bottom line is these fine folks are going to come in and play their hearts out and give a great show and then we will get back to the football game. That the Riders aren’t in.
